The Tale of Joy and Heartache Episode 4
As time passed, Teboho discovered that Palesa was pregnant. Instead of joy, the news brought fear and rejection. Without warning, he moved his company to Matwabeng. One morning, Palesa went to Teboho’s workplace, only to find the office empty. Her heart sank. After making inquiries, she uncovered the painful truth, Teboho had relocated to Matwabeng without telling her. Broken and confused.
Palesa went to visit her friend. “My friend, the pain never ends,” Palesa said through tears. “Teboho moved to Matwabeng.” Nthabiseng looked at her in shock. “What are you talking about?”
“I’m telling you the truth,” Palesa sobbed. “He left me… with this pregnancy.”
“My friend,” Nthabiseng said gently, trying to calm her, “maybe he will come back. Don’t be too hard on yourself.”
“He has already blocked me,” Palesa cried. “I can’t reach him no matter how much I try.” Nthabiseng’s face hardened with anger. “This man is a scam. He was playing with your feelings from the beginning.”
“Please don’t say that,” Palesa pleaded. “I still believe he will come back to me.”
“I hope so, my friend,” Nthabiseng replied softly.
“My heart is completely broken,” Palesa cried. “Teboho did everything for me… and now he has abandoned me.” Nthabiseng held her close, comforting her and promising that everything would somehow be alright.
The pain became unbearable, and Palesa made a painful decision, to go to Matwabeng herself. Exhausted and heavy with emotion, she boarded a taxi. Passengers looked at her with sympathy as tears silently rolled down her face. Her thoughts were fixed on one person. Teboho. When she finally arrived at his workplace, her heart pounded. “Hello,” she said to the receptionist, taking a deep breath. “I’m here to see Teboho.” People in the office watched her curiously. Suddenly, Teboho appeared. Palesa’s face lit up with hope. “Oh, my love, I’m so happy to see you again,” she said, smiling. Teboho froze, his eyes cold with surprise. “Who are you?” Palesa felt the ground shake beneath her. “It’s me, my love. Don’t you recognize me anymore?”
“Listen carefully,” Teboho said harshly. “Go back to where you came from. I don’t know you.” Her heart shattered. “Please don’t say that,” she cried. “I’m pregnant with your child.” Teboho stepped back, shocked, but his voice remained cruel. “You are not my girlfriend. I don’t know what you want from me. Get lost!”
His words cut deeper than a knife. Palesa burst into tears and walked away in silence. She returned home broken, carrying not only a child, but a shattered heart. Love can be sweet, and love can be painfully bitter. As Palesa scrolled through Teboho’s social media status, she did not realize she was slowly destroying herself. Be careful of the people you trust. Know their intentions and do not be like Palesa.
