The Echos of Silence Final Epissode

Lefa was staring at his laptop, waiting for an email to pop up. “I hope this email has good news,” he said, sipping a cup of coffee. You could see that he was waiting for news that would change his life. An email arrived, and he noticed that the publisher had rejected his first book. “This can’t be,” he stood, heart pumping as if his heart would come out. “How can they reject my offer?” He asked, not knowing what to do. Lefa left everything. He stood and looked outside through the window. The moon was bright, and there was a silence. “Why god?” Lefa’s tears went out. Sadness settled over him like a cold mist, seeping into every crevice of his being. His eyes were bright, now dulled like tarnished silver.  “I don’t expect this to happen,” he said and covered his face. Lefa was hoping for the good things to happen to him; he didn’t give up, he kept trying other proposals. Mrs Mokoena was in the staffroom, a pile of papers next to her, her hand grabbing a pen and marking. “Thes...

Lies Papers

In a quiet town where nothing ever seems to change, deception can move like a whisper—soft, unnoticed… until it explodes into chaos. The bank smelt of polish and quiet tension. Lerato sat upright, her handbag resting neatly on her lap. Her fingers tapped lightly against the bag. Her eyes moved across the room, not in panic, but with intention. “Ma’am, your application looks promising,” the manager said, adjusting his tie. “We just need to complete standard verification checks.” Lerato smiled politely. “I understand. I’ll return later.” She stood, composed, and walked out without hesitation. Outside, the afternoon sun warmed the pavement. Across the street, a silver Suzuki 7-seater waited with its engine humming softly. A man leaned forward from the driver’s seat as she got in. “Well?” he asked. “They’re processing it,” Lerato replied, closing the door. “Two hundred and fifty thousand rand.” A grin spread across his face. “Easy.” But Lerato didn’t smile. She glanced at the rearview mirr...

The Echos of Silence Episode 2

The drops of rain were falling; Lefa was shaking from the cold he had caught. “I need to have something to eat,” he said, glancing around for anyone nearby. He was hiding under a tree when a woman walked past. Spotting her, Lefa took out a knife. “Hey! Wait there,” he shouted, emerging from behind the tree and running after her. The woman screamed. Lefa chased her and managed to catch her. “Why are you running?” he demanded. “Please, don’t hurt me,” the woman, named Charlotte, sobbed. Lefa threatened, “I won’t hurt you, but if you do something stupid, I am going to hurt you. Where is the money?” Charlotte stared at him, terrified. She felt a mix of pain and pity. “You don’t have to do this. I will go with you and feed you. You are too young,” she pleaded. “Too young for what? They will find you lying here in a pool of blood, don’t test me,” Lefa pointed her with a knife. “Okay, I am sorry. I will give you money,” Charlotte said. Lefa took all her money and left her. This woman wan...

The Tale of Joy and Heartache Final Episode

Mmathabo sat quietly in the kitchen, a cup of tea warming her trembling hands. Her thoughts were heavy, her heart restless as she wondered what was going on in the world. Life had become so unpredictable. While she was lost in thought, her father, Mohau, walked in and noticed the sadness on her face. “My child, why are you so sad?” Mohau asked gently. Mmathabo sighed deeply before answering. “I have bad news. Palesa and the baby have been taken to the provincial hospital. The doctors say the child is not in a good condition.” Mohau moved closer to her. “My child, everything will be fine. We need to have faith,” he said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. “I hope so,” Mmathabo whispered. “I pray my granddaughter and her baby will be safe.” “That is the spirit,” Mohau replied softly. “We must speak life, not fear.
