The Tale of Joy and Heartache Episode 3
Palesa visited Teboho at his home, and the two of them spent the evening dancing joyfully to cool, soothing music. She was amazed by the house he lived in, it was elegant, spacious, and clearly high-class. “My love, this music takes a person straight to paradise,” Teboho said as he continued dancing. “You’re right, my love. I feel so happy,” Palesa replied with a smile. “And this house… you live like a king, my husband.” Teboho laughed softly. “I’m thinking of doing something big for you.” Palesa looked at him in surprise. “What do you mean, my dear?”
“It’s nothing serious,” he said casually. “Remember, I told you I want to make you my queen.” At that moment, Palesa imagined herself living a luxurious life, surrounded by wealth and comfort. “I would love that,” she said excitedly. Teboho smiled, pleased by her reaction. “Don’t worry, our future starts right here.”
As the night went on, Palesa became drunk without realizing how vulnerable she was. Teboho took advantage of the moment and led her to his bedroom. “If you don’t treat me well, I’ll treat you well myself,” he said playfully. “So what are we going to do in your bedroom?” Palesa asked, laughing.
“Relax, my love. I’m here to make you feel special,” Teboho said before kissing her. “I’m also here to give you love,” Palesa replied. She removed her T-shirt, leaving only her bra on. She did not realize that she was slowly walking into trouble. That night, Teboho slept with Palesa, and they remained together until morning.
The following day at lunchtime, Palesa visited Teboho at his office. “Darling, I brought you food,” she said cheerfully. Teboho smiled when he saw her. “Thank you, my love. How did you sleep last night?”
“I slept very well. I enjoyed the love you shared with me,” Palesa replied shyly. As Teboho ate the food gently, he admired her beauty. “You are so beautiful. I really need to marry you,” he joked. “I hope you didn’t put a love potion in this food.” Palesa laughed. “No, my love. I would never do such a thing.”
Deep down, Teboho was only attracted to Palesa’s beauty, nothing more. He had no intention of loving her sincerely. His goal was simply to use her. In the world we live in, chewing gum is chewed until it loses its taste and is thrown away. Teboho treated relationships the same way.
After Palesa left the office, Mpho walked in to speak to his friend. “Man, I hope you’re serious about her,” Mpho said cautiously. “Relax,” Teboho replied confidently. “I’m going to make her my wife.”
Mpho frowned. He knew Teboho too well, they had been friends since childhood, long before they moved to Ladybrand. “So where did Boitumelo end up?” Mpho asked. That question immediately angered Teboho. “Why are you bringing that up now?” He snapped.
“Because I know you,” Mpho said calmly. “You attract women with your status, then you don’t take them seriously.”
“Shut your smelly mouth,” Teboho shouted. “If I ever hear you say this again, I’ll kill you. Stay away from her.” The tension in the office grew.
“I’m just enjoying myself,” Teboho added coldly. “You’re bitter because you don’t even have a girlfriend.” Those words pushed Mpho over the edge. Angry and disappointed, he turned and walked out of the office.
