MY HEART

My heart yearned for peace,
Yet it cried out for love,
Longing for solace to increase,
Seeking joy from above.

Happiness vanished like a thief,
How elusive can joy be?
Betrayed by foes who feigned belief?
A friend turned adversary.

My heart lay shattered, crushed by fate,
Bruised and broken, torn apart,
Pierced by sorrow's cruel spate,
The loss of friendship pierced my heart.

Head bowed low, seeking solace's embrace,
Head bowed low, joy snatched away,
Curse you, death, where's your grace?
Oh death, what purpose do you play?

I gazed skyward, tears cascading down,
I gazed at the heavens, sorrow's veil,
I searched for solace, for a friend to be found,
Gazed at the heavens where confusion prevailed.
